چکیده

Cognitive dysfunctions are the main symptoms associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD). In last decade, use of natural substances to prevent or alleviate neurological have attracted great interest. Curcumin, polyphenolic component turmeric ( Curcuma longa ) rhizomes, has a variety beneficial properties, including potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Despite therapeutic potential for neurodegenerative diseases AD, this compound as drug in therapies huge limitations due its low water solubility, physicochemical instability, poor bioavailability. Nanotechnology is an important tool overcome these drawbacks. Here, safety curcumin nanoencapsulated form was evaluated using zebrafish embryos. We also investigated protective effect (50 mg/kg, single injection, i.p.) against scopolamine-induced memory deficits adult zebrafish. The embryotoxicity test revealed that formulations any dose tested did not cause embryo mortality affect hatching rate. Data showed both effective preventing cognitive impairments without altering animals' locomotion. These findings suggest treatments safe could be useful enhancing function AD other age-related disorders. • Curcumin do mortality. None compounds affected general locomotor activity. Both

Modulation of adenosine signaling prevents scopolamine-induced cognitive impairment in zebrafish

Adenosine, a purine ribonucleoside, exhibits neuromodulatory and neuroprotective effects in the brain and is involved in memory formation and cognitive function. Adenosine signaling is mediated by adenosine receptors (A1, A2A, A2B, and A3); in turn, nucleotide and nucleoside-metabolizing enzymes and adenosine transporters regulate its levels. Scopolamine, a muscarinic cholinergic receptor antag...

Spirulina Plathensis microalgae prevents scopolamine-induced memory impairment in young female Wistar rats

Introduction: Memory deficit is one of the clinical problems of Alzheimer’s disease that progressively leads to cognitive impairment and dementia. In the present study, the effect of Spirulina plathensis microalgae on the scopolamine-induced memory impairment was evaluated. Materials and Methods: Young female Wistar rats (30 days old) were used. Animals randomly were divided into 9 groups (Sali...

Lornoxicam Alone and with Selegiline Improves the Neuroprotective Effect and Cognition in Scopolamine Induced Neurodegeneration and Cognitive Impairment in Rats

Alzheimer is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder in which Oxidative stress plays a major role. The present study was designed to investigate Neuroprotective effect of Lornoxicam, Selegiline and co-administration of both drugs in Scopolamine induced cognitive impairment and neurodegeneration. Scopolamine (1.4mg/kg) was administered intraperitoniallyin male Wistar rats. Rectangular maze perf...

Effect of resveratrol on scopolamine-induced cognitive impairment in mice.

BACKGROUND Resveratrol (3,4',5-trihydroxystilbene) is a naturally occurring compound found in grapes, wine, peanuts and cranberries. Recently, in vitro and cell culture studies have reported beneficial effects of resveratrol in the neurodegenerative process in Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, in vivo effect of resveratrol in models of learning and memory is not yet evaluated. The present stud...
